Who is affected:
Users of the shared hosting (HAG), Aegir sites and the application server (RT, Wiki, Ledger, git, etc).
What will happen:
The new database server (geras.koumbit.net) will be put back online.
An upgrade of Debian to the latest stable release (lenny) will be performed on the main server ("homere") and the virtual server "metis".
Why:
The new database server suffered from a hardware failure when it was brought online the first time. We made a hardware replacement and the server is now ready to be back online.
Homere and metis are running an old version of Debian (4.0 etch) which is not supported anymore.
How:
We will proceed with the rotation of the current "Master" and "Slave" servers, a procedure which should take between 5 and 10 minutes, during which all SQL services will be turned off. This will have an impact on web services (which will be offline) and mail delivery (which will be delayed).
