Who is affected:
Users of the HAG shared hosting environment, notably webmail users (squirrelmail and roundcube), SSL websites, Mailman, phpmyadmin and the bureau.koumbit.net control panel. Websites otherwise will not be affected.
REMINDERS:
* FTP: please use the host ftp.koumbit.net, this server operates on another server (which will not be affected by the upgrade)
* E-mail: use imap.koumbit.net or pop.koumbit.net, and smtp.koumbit.net (http://www.koumbit.org/en/support/technical_guidelines). The e-mail service itself (other than webmail) will not be interrupted.
What will happen:
We will proceed to a major upgrade of the Debian GNU/Linux operating system on the "Homere" server (from Etch to Lenny). We will also do an important upgrade of the AlternC control panel (bureau.koumbit.net).
Why:
The "Etch" version is obsolete, it is important for us to avoid eventual security risks and maintain reliability.
How:
* upgrade Apache 1.3 to Apache 2
* upgrade the operating system from Debian Etch to Lenny
* upgrade AlternC
